Emo Protests Update
Less than a week ago I posted about the large emo protests where emo girls and emo boys being under attack from anti-emo protestants in Mexico, specifically Mexico cities where the protesters have caused huge rallies on the streets. The target for the protests and attacks were people that looked emo, that is had emo hair or simply listened to emo music.
Over 800 protesters innundated Mexico City’s main piaza; Plaza de Armas looking to kick some emo guys. The reason they chose this certain place for the protests against emo hair guys and girls was that they knew it’s a well frequented place by all ages and groups.
This was only to be the start - you can see in the videos I posted in my previous post on emo protests that people were attacking each other and were even taking photos with their mobile phones to post on the web.
Since my last report, the emo kids tried to come to an agreement with the government in which they would be protected from violence. However, a lot more people actually joined the protesting group to which the emo girls and guys replied by silentely marching, not giving up their emo hair styles or emo lifestyle.
A youth worker from Mexico City reported to The Times that the reason for all this violence may be that the conservative side of the mexican society has had enough of the innovation in such radical emo hair styles and dressing, as seen by them.
Others say that the emo way of dressing raises the homophobic issue that the Mexicans are afraid of - latent homophobia.
So this is my updated to the emo scandal that is going on at the moment in Mexico City - if you have any holidays planned and you have any emo hair or other characteristics that may even closely resemble the emo style, I would strongly reconsider
.
